Patient safety through education.
Spotlight Publishing trains medical professionals to become credible, well-prepared expert witnesses — strengthening the entire healthcare-legal system.
Spotlight Publishing was founded in Scotland to address a gap that has long existed in the UK: the shortage of well-trained, well-supported expert witnesses within the healthcare and legal professions.
Every day, courts and tribunals rely on medical expertise to reach fair outcomes for patients, families, and institutions. Yet many doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals enter expert witness work without the preparation they need. Reports are incomplete, testimony falters under cross-examination, and critical cases suffer as a result.
We exist to change that. Through structured online learning, live webinars led by senior medico-legal practitioners, and carefully curated reference materials, we give healthcare professionals the knowledge and confidence to contribute to the legal process with clarity and authority.
Our flagship programme — PEERS (Professional Expert Empowerment & Resources) — covers every stage of the expert witness journey, from understanding the legal framework to writing court-compliant reports and presenting evidence effectively.
We are based in Scotland and serve professionals across the United Kingdom.
Built for busy clinicians.
All Spotlight programmes are designed to fit around a clinical career.

What our learners say.
“The PEERS programme gave me the structure and confidence I had been missing. I now approach expert reports with a clear framework, and I no longer dread cross-examination — I prepare for it.”
“The quality of expert evidence from Spotlight-trained witnesses is consistently strong. Their reports are well-structured, the reasoning is transparent, and they understand their duties to the court.”
“The CPD value alone justified the course, but what I really gained was a working knowledge of CPR Part 35 and the confidence to know when an instruction is — or is not — within my expertise.”
